3 Tips for Starting a Social Exercise Plan

3 Tips for Starting a Social Exercise Plan

Posted by VPX Sports on Mon, Aug 12, 2013

Why exercise alone?? It?s boring, lonely, and it?s much harder to stay motivated five to six days a week at the gym.? Music improves the situation, but it doesn?t replace the company you gain from a workout partner or group of people to interact with.

I knew I needed motivation and couldn?t stay on track while juggling a tough career.? For a week or two I?d spend considerable time at the gym, and then would fall back into lazy habits after work.? I never could catch a grip on establishing a concrete exercise routine.? Extra work, happy hours, or my Thursday night TV show would block my success. I couldn?t attain a healthy weight.

Thanks to a suggestion from my primary care doctor, I dropped the attempts at working out alone and molded a plan for social exercise.? My doctor expressed concerns about my weight and lifestyle habits. He didn?t want me to lose control of my weight or continue to indulge in bad habits. It?s in my nature to be social so he told me to mix that with exercise to keep me more entertained, interested and accountable. He suggested these three social health ideas.

1.?? ?Group Fitness

This was a baby step into social exercise for me.? I joined a spinning class initially to start off.? I made friends immediately with the other women and few men in the class. While attending spin class three days a week, I began transforming into a gym rat!

Spin classes were like a gateway for me and encouraged me to join yoga as well. It left me feeling balanced, relaxed and more flexible.? From there I also started spending time in a mountain biking group on the weekends.

Group fitness is an excellent starting point for a socially designed fitness plan. It offers great opportunities to find new friends and have fun while working towards a mutual goal.

2.?? ?Hiking or Running Group

Exercising groups are the best. Once my leg muscles began to tone and gain strength, I accepted the next challenge of a runner?s group based out of the gym.? The members of the group seemed like seasoned runners and trail blazers who would leave me behind.

Instead, they were the nicest group of people ever. Each person got a chance to map out our runs every week.? After some long runs we stopped in a bar for a post drink or two.? We mingled, became close friends, and provided health support for one another. ?

If any person tried to slack off by missing a run, we called, texted, and even ran to a person?s house once.? I never experienced that level of physical activity commitment and fun before.

Some people from our running group also spent time hiking.? It was a nice change of pace from running and it gave us the opportunity to take in a little nature while staying active.

3.?? ?Social Eating Affects Exercise

You can?t ignore eating habits when founding a social exercise plan.? You can still exercise consistently, but if you?re not eating right then the results from physical exercise are wasted.? Creating a social fitness plan also entailed improving eating habits.

After a little research, the community garden called my name. The people committed to gardening were friendly, inviting, and nutritionally aware.? When you invest time grooming, nurturing, and growing your own vegetables and herbs, it changes your vision on eating.

I paid attention to the nutritional labels at grocery stores, never missed the local farmers market, and focused more on constructing healthier meals.? I stopped binging on unhealthy late night snacks and learned to control food cravings.? I made incredible friends at the community garden.? We share meals together, throw barbecues and picnics, and give one another fresh produce gifts.

My health, fitness level, eating habits and lifestyle have all improved tremendously since creating my own social exercise plan. What ways have you tried to make health and fitness a more social activity in your life? Share in the comments section below.

Fight over golf ball leaves man unable to speak

Wayne Magalogo, 65, shows where he was punched in the face after he picked up what he thought was an errant ball on the green July 2, 2013, in West Jordan. A couple of weeks later, he went to the hospital and was told he had bleeding on the brain. Surgery fixed the problem, but he is now unable to speak and struggles with basic motor skills.

Alan Neves, Deseret News

WEST JORDAN ? The family of a 65-year-old man says he was assaulted on a golf course, punched in the head because he picked up what he thought was an errant ball on the green.

Wayne Magalogo, 65, was golfing Mountain View Golf Course on July 2 when his family says he was attacked. It was a couple of weeks before he started having such painful headaches that he went to see a doctor. It was discovered he had bleeding on the brain.

Magalogo has been out of the hospital for just a few days. He struggles with basic motor skills and has lost his ability to speak.

On July 2, Magalogo was golfing with his father and putting on the third hole when a ball landed on the green, his family said. He picked it up, and the golfer who had hit the ball got angry, punched him and then left, according to family members. Magalogo and his father continued playing.

Magalogo didn?t think anything of the attack until he started getting major headaches. He went to see a doctor and had surgery to stop bleeding in his brain, his family said. He spent more than a week in the hospital recovering. He still has headaches and has to take medication for the pain, family members said.

Magalogo's son Owen said there was no reason for the attack.

?It?s just a sport,? Owen Magalogo said. ?Some people take it too far. They get angry just because it doesn?t go their way, but they can?t have everything go their way in life.?

He said the family wants the man who punched his father to answer for what he did.

?The biggest thing is just to find the guy and get some justice,? Owen Magalogo said.

The family didn?t make a connection with Wayne Magalogo?s injuries and the altercation until a few weeks after the incident, and that?s when they called West Jordan police.

?The time lapse between the incident and when we received the first report was three weeks,? West Jordan Police Sgt. Dan Roberts said.

There were more than 200 people on the course that day, police say, and single and double golfers didn?t need to give their name for a tee time. Even with little to go on, detectives are hoping for tips about the alleged assault.

?It just underscores the importance of maintaining your self control and not lashing out at people,? Roberts said. ?You never know what they are capable of or susceptible to, and what might appear as a minor altercation can turn into a life-or-death struggle.?

That is what worries Wayne Magalogo?s family, not knowing if he will ever be the same or if the man they say hurt him will ever have to answer for it.

?It?s just sad,? Owen Magalogo said. ?I really don?t know just why someone would stoop to that level, just to punch him over a sport. I don?t understand why it had to come to that.?

Police have a very vague description of the man who allegedly punched Magalogo. They say he in his late 20s to early 30s. Anyone with information is asked to call 801-840-4000.

Nadal beats Raonic in Montreal final

MONTREAL (AP) ? Rafael Nadal beat Milos Raonic 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday in the Rogers Cup final, spoiling Raonic's bid to become the first Canadian winner in the event in 55 years.

Robert Bedard, the last Canadian to win what was then called the Canadian Open in 1955, was in attendance to see Nadal claim his third Rogers Cup title. The Spanish star also won in 2005 and 2008.

"To win here, I have to be playing my top level," Nadal said. "Very happy the way that I played almost every match in this tournament. Is very important for me, this title. Just very happy for everything."

Raonic was the first Canadian since the now 81-year-old Bedard even to reach the final.

"The tournament overall was a great thing," Raonic said. "There were a lot of situations that I'm very happy with the way I dealt with them, and there were a lot of learning experiences through it all.

"A lot of stepping stones that I need to do in my career happened this week, so that's great. The match, obviously I'm a little disappointed with myself. I would have hoped to deal with that situation a little bit better."

Nadal, playing his first tournament since a first-round loss at Wimbledon in June, posted his eighth tournament win this year and the 58th of his career. On Saturday night in the semifinals, Nadal beat two-time defending champion Novak Djokovic 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (2).

"I did a lot of things well," Nadal said. "My return was huge this afternoon. I returned a few first serves of his in important moments, decisive. Then I think he play with more mistakes than usual. That helped me."

By reaching the final, the 22-year-old Raonic will move up to 10th in world rankings, a record for a Canadian. He will be the youngest player in the top 10. Nadal will move from fourth to third.

"With his serve, his chance to be in the top 10 for a long time is very good," Nadal said. "Then what you need is to work on the mental part and in the game from the baseline, to try to play the right way on the important points. I think he will do it. He's still young. He's having great results. This week is going to be very important for him and for tennis in Canada in general."

Raonic has worn different colored Davis Cup-style shirts with a maple leaf over the heart all week, but saved a red-and-white one for the final. It didn't help as Nadal needed just 1 hour, 8 minutes to win.

The Uniprix Stadium crowd was solidly behind Raonic throughout the one-sided match.

Nadal's all-around game, particularly his superior passing shots and baseline play, proved too much for the power-hitting Raonic, who was only effective in games in which his booming serve was working.

On a windy afternoon, Nadal had two service breaks in the first set, including one after trailing 0-40, and broke again to open the second. At 2-1 in the second set, Raonic wasted three break points to let his best chance for a break slip away.

The Spaniard broke again for a 5-2 lead and served out the match.

Nadal is 4-0 against Raonic in his career.

Nadal stretched his record for wins in Masters series tournaments to 25 with his fourth this year. He is 48-3 and has reached the final of 10 out of 11 tournaments in 2013.

Raonic's victory over Vasek Pospisil of Vernon, B.C., on Saturday marked the first time two Canadians were in the semifinals of an ATP Tour event since Andrew Sznajder and Martin Wosterholme in 1990 at Rio de Janeiro.

The last Canadian to get that far in the Rogers Cup, then called the Canadian Open, was Mike Belkin of Montreal in 1969.

Jets' McKnight carted to locker room after fall

(AP) ? New York Jets running back Joe McKnight was carted to the locker room, wearing an oxygen mask, after dropping to the field during a drill.

McKnight, who has been recovering from a head injury, took a knee three times as he made his way onto the field Monday and was examined by trainers. Wearing a red no-contact jersey, he was participating in a drill when he went down again. Trainers rushed over to examine McKnight, who has also dealt with dehydration issues all camp, before walking him to a medical tent.

McKnight was examined for several minutes before being carted away. He was wearing an oxygen mask as he walked on his own into the locker room, while a trainer held the tank.

Video: 'I had a couple beers' but criticism overblown, Ford says, after bizarre appearance at Toronto street festival

TORONTO - Toronto Mayor Rob Ford says he had a couple of beers Friday night but contends videos that have sparked a torrent of criticism are being blown out of proportion.

Three videos posted online on Friday show the mayor apparently enjoying a night on the town at a street festival and bantering with residents.

Many people took to Twitter in response to the video posting to criticize and ridicule the mayor, accusing him of being drunk and scolding his behaviour.

On his radio show on Newstalk 1010 Ford said he had a good time and let his hair down but adds he doesn't think he did anything to offend anyone.

Ford's behaviour has attracted international attention since news reports surfaced this year of an alleged video that appeared to show him smoking crack cocaine.

Reporters for two media outlets say they were shown the video, but it has never surfaced publicly.

Ford has denied he uses cocaine and has said he can't comment on a video that does not exist.

It was the latest in a series of erratic behaviour that has landed Ford in public controversy.

CASCADE, Idaho (AP) ? A car belonging to a man suspected of killing a California woman and her young son and then fleeing with the 16-year-old daughter was found in the Idaho wilderness on Friday after a horseback rider reported seeing the man and girl hiking in the area two days earlier, authorities said.

The discovery came as authorities in California positively identified the charred body of the girl's younger brother five days after its discovery.

The rider said he saw two people who matched the description of the pair near Morehead Lake, in an extremely rugged backcountry area 70 miles northeast of Boise sometime around noon Wednesday, Ada County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Andrea Dearden said.

The rider didn't report his encounter with the pair until later, after seeing news reports and realizing they were being sought.

Idaho authorities started searching Thursday and the car was found Friday morning and identified through serial numbers as belonging to James Lee DiMaggio, 40.

There have been no other reported sightings of the pair since Wednesday, but the discovery launched a massive search in the southwest corner of The Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness.

More than 100 people were searching on foot and on horseback or were on their way to join the search of an area that Ada County sheriff's spokesman Patrick Orr described Friday evening as covering 320 square miles.

The rider also told police it did not appear that the girl, believed to be 16-year-old Hannah Anderson, was being held against her will. Both people seemed healthy and were equipped with gear necessary to hike and camp in Idaho's remote wilderness.

"There was nothing that was so alarming at the time that he felt threatened or alarmed," Dearden said of the unidentified rider. "But after seeing the Amber Alerts, there was something that made him think, in hindsight, that it all seemed a little odd."

Also late Friday, San Diego County sheriff's officials announced that, as expected, they had positively identified a charred body discovered at DiMaggio's home near the Mexican border as the girl's 8-year-old brother, Ethan Anderson.

The sheriff's crime lab identified the body found Sunday through DNA extracted from bone marrow, the department said in a brief statement.

The children's mother, Christina Anderson, 44, was also found dead at the burning house on Sunday night, and authorities around the west have been looking for DiMaggio and Hannah Anderson ever since.

Brett Anderson, Hannah's father, said he was "very happy" that Hannah may have been spotted alive. He said he couldn't explain why his daughter didn't ask the horseback rider for help.

"We don't know what kind of frame of mind she was in or what he told her," Anderson said. "Maybe if she acted differently, there would be more dead people."

Hannah's grandfather, Christopher Saincome, also was relieved and refused to try to explain the girl's reaction.

"He could have strapped something to her and told her it was a bomb. He could have had her tethered to him," he said. "I'm sure she's totally in shock."

The car, a blue Nissan Versa, was covered in brush off a road about 5 or 6 miles from the spot where the man and girl had been seen. The license plates had been removed, but the vehicle identification number matched that of the car being sought, San Diego County Sheriff Bill Gore said.

Police previously warned that the car might be rigged with explosives. A law enforcement team from San Diego was expected to search and secure the car at the trailhead, sheriff's spokesman Orr said.

Morehead Lake is in the southwest corner of a rugged 2.3 million-acre preserve in the heart of Idaho. Because of its wilderness designation, the preserve is not open to motorized vehicles and traffic is limited to hikers and horseback riders ? rules that will also apply to searchers.

The lake is about 2 miles west of the Middle Fork of the Snake River, a waterway that winds through the wilderness and is extremely popular for recreationists who float and camp for up to a week at a time.

The pine-blanketed area is at an altitude of about 7,800 feet and the lake itself is seven miles into the wilderness area. Temperatures at night can fall into the high 30s. Daytime highs can reach the 90s.

Police have set up check points in the area where the car was found and near other nearby trailheads, about 60 miles east of Cascade.

Gore noted that DiMaggio bought camping gear a few weeks ago.

DiMaggio was close to the family. Brett Anderson has described him as a best friend and said his children thought of him as an uncle.

Authorities have said DiMaggio had an "unusual infatuation" with the 16-year-old, although the father said he never saw any strange behavior. If he had, he said, "we would have quashed that relationship in an instant."

DiMaggio, a telecommunications technician at The Scripps Research Institute in San Diego, was planning to move to Texas and invited Christina Anderson and the children to his home last weekend to say goodbye, said Christopher Saincome, Anderson's father.

It's unclear how the two were killed, though police believe the crime was planned.

Brett Anderson said his friend is an outdoorsman.

"He was very interested in hiking and camping," Anderson said. "Whenever he had the chance and had the funds he would go on a hiking trip."

The Cascade area is an outdoorsman's paradise. Perched along the southeastern shoreline of the Cascade Reservoir and The West Mountains, the town is a popular summer getaway for hikers, campers and kayakers.

There Is a Fly In My Tweet: Tracking Food-Borne Illness the Crowd-Sourced Way

[unable to retrieve full-text content]First time accepted submitter kraken9 writes "New research shows that online chatter can help you avoid food poisoning. Leveraging a statistical language model of Twitter users' online communication, nEmesis finds individuals who are likely suffering from a foodborne illness. People's visits to restaurants are modeled by matching GPS data embedded in the messages with restaurant addresses. As a result, each venue is assigned a health score based on the proportion of customers that fell ill shortly after visiting it. The paper shows that this score correlates with the official inspection data from the Department of Health, and argues that 'nEmesis offers an inexpensive way to enhance current methods to monitor food safety (e.g., adaptive inspections) and identify potentially problematic venues in near-real time.' Similar techniques have been used before to predict the spread of flu from GPS-tagged social data."

Pro-Abortion Undercover Sting Backfires! | Women of Grace

Commentary by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS

naralPro-abortion groups are apoplectic?over a so-called ?undercover video? by NARAL-Pro-Choice America which purportedly exposes crisis pregnancy center personnel giving pregnant women all kinds of false information. The only problem?is that this alleged ?false information? turns out to be all the facts the abortion industry refuses to reveal to women!

According to the Huffington Post, NARAL sent undercover women into several crisis pregnancy centers throughout Virginia and recorded their interactions.

?The investigation revealed that 71 percent of the CPCs in Virginia give out medically inaccurate information about the health consequences and effectiveness of birth control, condoms and abortion,? the Post reports.

Here?s some of the ?medically inaccurate? information allegedly given out by the CPC workers.

1. Condoms don?t actually prevent STD?s

The CPC counselor was correct. According to the World Health Organization, which conducted an analysis of scientific evidence on the effectiveness of condoms in preventing sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), it concluded that evidence for the effectiveness of STDs was considered to be ?insufficient.?

2. Condoms are not effective in preventing pregnancy.

Once again, the CPC counselor is correct, at least according to the CDC, which found that ?typical? use of condoms results in a failure rate of 18 percent.

3. Condoms don?t work because they?re too porous.

Correct again! This study of viral particle leakage through condoms was conducted by the Food and Drug Administration and found that it does indeed occur.

NARAL investigators must not have been aware of the recall of 1.4 million condoms which occurred in March, 2013, due to the product being ?porous? and??prone to leakage and breaking, putting users at risk of STDs and pregnancy.?

carcinogens4.? The first three ingredients in the birth control pill are carcinogens.

Right again! The estrogen-progesterone combination contained in the pill was declared a Class 1 carcinogen by the World Health Organization in 2005. All Class 1 carcinogens have been found to cause cancer in both lab and human studies. This means the ingredients in the pill are now listed in the same category as arsenic, asbestos, radium and tobacco smoke. This is also why the CPC counselor gave such a long list of symptoms attributed to the pill, such as hair loss, memory loss, headaches, weight gain, fatal blood clots and breast cancer.

5.? Abortion causes long-term psychological damage and leads women to develop eating disorders and drug addictions.

The abortion industry and its cohorts (aka the mainstream media and medical associations that promote and profit from?abortion) have been almost as desperate to hide the evidence of the link between abortion and psychological problems in women as they are to hide the link between abortion and breast cancer. This article gives a summary of research conducted by scientists who are not?affiliated with the abortion industry?which shows that there is more than enough evidence to warrant the mention of this danger to women at the time of counseling.

6. Abortion could cause her body to create antibodies that would attack her fetus the next time she tried to get pregnant.

What the counselor was referring to here is the RH factor, which is a type of protein found on red blood cells. Most of us have this protein and are considered to be RH positive, but some of us do not and are considered RH negative. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, when RH negative blood comes in contact with RH positive blood (as can be the case during pregnancy), the RH negative person begins to produce antibodies to fight the RH factor. These antibodies do not go away once formed. If an RH negative mother is carrying an RH positive child, this condition can break down the child?s red blood cells causing anemia, brain damage, or even death.

a woman's choiceDolores Wisecarver, director of a CPC known as A Woman?s Choice in Falls Church, Va., was perfectly up-front when confronted by NARAL about what?pregnancy centers do.

?We do promote chastity in women that are not married, and natural family planning. The reason we promote that is that not because the pope says it?s a bad thing. We feel that a woman?s fertility is a normal thing ? you have to take meds when you?re sick, not when you?re healthy, and all medication has side effects. I took birth control for years didn?t know how sick it was making me until I stopped.?

In response,?Tarina Keene, executive director of NARAL Pro-Choice Virginia, responded with the usual unfounded hysteria.

?This shocking audio exposes Virginia CPCs for what they are: anti-choice field offices designed to mislead, shame, and lie to women during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives,? Keene said. ?Regardless of your stance on abortion, we can all agree that anyone seeking health care services and advice should receive comprehensive, non-judgmental, and factually accurate information.?

Ms. Keene would be doing women a true service?if she took her own advice rather than repeating abortion industry talking points. There?s no excuse for being this much in the dark about facts so important to women?s health.

6 things parents need to know about 'Planes'

Movies

You can be forgiven if you think "Planes," the animated Disney film opening Friday, is from hallowed animation giant Pixar, creator of "Toy Story" and "Finding Nemo" and the like. It's not. The film was actually produced by Disney Toon Studios, and "Planes" was supposed to be a direct-to-video release, to land quietly on the shelves along with such films as "Cinderella III: A Twist in Time" and "Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie."

But "Planes" is being pitched as a spin-off of Pixar's "Cars" franchise, with the posters noting it takes place "above the world of 'Cars.'" And somewhere along the line, someone at Disney got smart, and realized they could throw the film into theaters, slather it in 3-D to ring up that extra-dimension ticket surcharge, and suck in millions of kids wearing Lightning McQueen T-shirts.

The plot is much like this summer's superior offering, "Turbo," and more than a little like "Cars," of course. A cropduster named Dusty who's afraid of heights competes in an around-the-world race, and must overcome his own fears and the dismissal of others who think he's not good enough because of his rustic background. There are good lessons there, of course, if clumsily executed in parts.

Here's what you need to know if you're taking your little pilots to see "Planes" in the theaters.

1. Is it worth seeing?
Going to waffle here and say "it depends." At press time, "Planes" had earned a sad 21% from review site Rotten Tomatoes, with critics using words like "uninspired" and "cheap and dull." But the intended audience isn't movie critics, it's kids with less refined tastes. Overall, our five-year-old enjoyed the film, but there were more than a few moments where we could see it wasn't holding her attention -- or those of older kids around her. If your child is fascinated by things that fly, or by racing, or simply adores the "Cars" universe of googly-eyed vehicles, the animation is fun. But this is a summer where parents are spoiled for choice when it comes to kids' movies. "Monsters University," "Despicable Me 2," and "Turbo" are all better films than "Planes," which has pretty much the same plot as "Turbo" anyway.

2. Should I pay extra for the 3-D?
Not if you can help it. All it does it make the film darker. The planes soar just fine without the glasses and ticket surcharge.

3. Is it appropriate for younger kids?
It's rated PG, but there's no violence or any really scary scenes, except for some bad weather and a few encounters with a plane who tries everything to win. You may want to take time after the film to discuss the film's reliance on easy national stereotypes -- the planes from other countries come straight from Central Cliche Casting. But for those concerned with nightmare-inducing scenes, "Planes" is tamer than the G-rated "Monsters University."

4. Will adults enjoy it, or just have to grin and bear it for the young 'uns sake?
"Planes" leaps to life during the around-the-world race, but it's also laden with wordy talk about the mechanics of flight and features a clunky sideplot about Dusty's mentor, a WW II plane who has a secret. There are a few spots where only adults will laugh -- tractors representing cows get tipped, a plane is named Fonzarelli for no apparent reason, the JFK Airport air-traffic controller has JFK's voice. When it gets dull, the adults can try and pick out the stars behind the voices. (Hint: Two fighter jets are voiced by actors from "Top Gun" -- no, not Tom Cruise!) And though it's not a Pixar film, Pixar lucky charm John Ratzenberger gets his cameo.

5. What's the best scene for the inevitable potty break?
Any of the numerous scenes where the planes start discussing their specific equipment and parts, or the lengthy bit where El Chupacabra, the Mexican plane, courts Rochelle, the French-Canadian plane. Cross-cultural romance was never so snoozy.

6. Is there a sequel coming?
There are two -- next up is "Planes: Fire and Rescue" in 2014. And if there aren't the inevitable model planes, pajamas, lunchboxes and fast-food toys, we'll eat our air-sickness bag.

Dinosaur CAT Scan Shows 3 Different Species Are Actually The Same

Cutting edge imaging technology isn't just helping us tiny humans ? it's helping solve a dinosaur identity crisis. Researchers have developed a brand-new imaging technique that builds a 3D image of a dinosaur skull, creating a CAT scan-style readout. They say this technique proves that what we thought were three separate species of dinosaur are actually the exact same creatures.

ADZ124: Chilling in Toronto and the Trip to London

Matt Marafioti

Matt "ADZ124" Marafioti has been writing prodigiously in the last week and we're only just getting caught up. He fired this one off on the way to London a few days ago.

Read on for tales from back home plus his plans for Europe.

As Daniel said in his blog he thinks I would make for "great TV". It means something coming from him since Daniel definitely has some great jokes himself.

After fighting with him in Monte Carlo face to face and having a serious yelling argument in front of the Pokerstars owner, Eugene Katchalov and UGotaBanana we decided to reconcile our differences and try and understand each other.

Understanding me can be hard sometimes. I can be a hot head, he is absolutely right, and I think it has to do with some incidents I have been in growing up and I am working on my best to change this in the future.

Anyways, now I am off to London with Tom Marchese who is ranked #1 for POY right now, I wanted to steal his title by winning this and then flying to London and some WPT's with him and winning more there but after this beat it seems pretty unattainable with the few remaining tournaments for the year.

The film festival was going on in Toronto the last couple weeks, a lot of celebrities came out for that, 4am last call in Toronto is rare but for this 2 weeks every night was a party. The night before I left for Borgata a girl was sitting at my table at a club called Amber, I went to shake her hand and introduce myself and her response was "what are you like 12?" Hahah. Fiesty I like it.

So I kept talking, pursued my challenge and by the end of the night I ended up going home with her to her place as her dog's watched us do things they shouldn't have (so awkward). By 8am I left her place because I was too drunk to drive then headed to my new house (which is super nice but I am never home!) to get ready for my flight to Philly later that day with two Toronto buddies Shyam, S_dot111 and Dave, muckducks on full tilt (two successfull MTT players).

We had a good time, did not party at all on this trip. The airport in Toronto was hell, I was tired from being up all night with the babysitter and those checkp-in machines tilt me so hard, I was yelling and this women told me she was going to call the police (Yawn hotheaded stupidity).

Obviously in customs I got frisked down (they take me in the back every time because they don?t like me rocking my friend Phil Laak's "Unabomber.net" sticker on my backpack or the $80k that is usually inside of it.

I am in Newark airport now with Reynolds and Tom heading to London to play a 20k pound high roller, the WSOPE main, the 10k turbo and the EPT main. Should be a ton of fun!

7791702544_8a4cb228e2Bye bye Birmingham. Hello London. The U.K.-based Oxygen Accelerator startup bootcamp is moving down south, from the Midlands city where it was born back in 2011 to take up residence in the heart of East London's Tech City. Specifically it will be moving into Google's Campus London co-working space -- taking the floor formerly occupied by Springboard/TechStars -- for its next 13-week programme.

Wave Analysis: DJIA Index, Crude Oil

Analysis for August 8th, 2013

DJIA Index

We may assume that the Index made a reverse; earlier the price completed an ascending impulse inside wave [5]. Most likely, after completing a local correction, the instrument will continue moving downwards.

DJIA Index

As we can see at the H1 chart, the price formed diagonal triangle pattern inside wave (5). After that, the Index finished a descending impulse and then started forming the second wave. The instrument may start the third wave during the day.

DJIA Index

Crude Oil

Oil is still being corrected. The mains scenario is still the same (the price may continue moving upwards inside wave (5), but the deeper the instrument moves, the less plausible this scenario may seem. However, it will remain in effect until the price breaks a local minimum.

Crude Oil

More detailed wave structure is shown on the H1 chart. Wave (4) took the form of double zigzag pattern. On the minor wave level, the price is completing wave 2 and may start forming the third one in the nearest future.

US orders diplomats out of Lahore, Pakistan

(AP) ? The State Department has warned Americans not to travel to Pakistan and evacuated nonessential government personnel from the country's second largest city because of a specific threat to the consulate there, a U.S. official said Friday.

The move was not related to the threat of an al-Qaida attack that prompted Washington to close temporarily 19 diplomatic posts in the Middle East and Africa.

According to U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Meghan Gregonis, the U.S. is shifting its nonessential staff from the consulate in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore to the capital, Islamabad.

Emergency personnel will stay in Lahore, and embassy officials do not know when the consulate will reopen, she said.

"We received information regarding a threat to the consulate," said Gregonis. "As a precautionary measure, we are undertaking a drawdown of all except emergency personnel."

The consulate in Lahore was already scheduled to be closed for the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr from Thursday through Sunday.

The personnel drawdown at the Lahore consulate was precautionary and wasn't related to the recent closures of numerous U.S. diplomatic missions in the Muslim world, said two U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the order.

Earlier this week, 19 U.S. diplomatic outposts in 16 countries in the Middle East and Africa were closed to the public through Saturday and nonessential personnel were evacuated from the U.S. Embassy in Yemen after U.S. intelligence officials said they had intercepted a recent message from al-Qaida's top leader about plans for a major terror attack.

None of the consulates in Pakistan or the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad were affected by the earlier closures.

On Thursday, the State Department issued a travel warning saying the presence of several foreign and indigenous terrorist groups posed a potential danger to U.S. citizens throughout Pakistan.

The country has faced a bloody insurgency by the Pakistani Taliban and their allies in recent years that has killed over 40,000 civilians and security personnel, and is also believed to be home base for al-Qaida leader Ayman al-Zawahiri. Most of the militant attacks have been in the northwest and southwest along the border with Afghanistan.

Gunmen killed six people and wounded 15 others Friday in an attack on a former lawmaker outside a mosque in Quetta, the capital of southwest Baluchistan province, said police officer Bashir Ahmad Barohi. The lawmaker escaped unharmed. A day earlier, a Taliban suicide bomber killed 30 people at a police funeral in Quetta.

Pakistan's major cities, including Lahore, have also experienced periodic attacks.

A powerful bomb exploded at a busy market street in Lahore in early July, killing at least four people and wounding nearly 50.

Lahore is considered Pakistan's cultural capital and has a population of at least 10 million people.

A CIA contractor shot to death two Pakistanis in Lahore in January 2011 who he said were trying to rob him. The incident severely damaged relations between Pakistan and the U.S. The contractor, Raymond Davis, was released by Pakistan in March 2011 after the families of the victims were paid over $2 million.

Police: 4 dead, 4 wounded in Dallas-area shootings

DALLAS (AP) ? A suspect in the fatal shootings of four people in two Dallas-area homes was in custody Thursday as police tried to determine what prompted the attacks just minutes apart and whether an explosive was used.

Four people were also wounded in the attacks. The first shooting took place at a house in southwest Dallas late Wednesday and another was about 15 minutes later in DeSoto, some 10 miles away, Dallas police Sgt. Warren Mitchell said.

Investigators arrested Erbie Bowser Wednesday night at the second crime scene, but they have no information about Bowser's relationship with any of the victims, DeSoto police Cpt. Melissa Franks said.

Charges were pending, Franks said.

Police were called around 10:30 p.m. to a home in southwest Dallas where they found four gunshot victims, two of whom had died, Mitchell said. The suspect then fled to DeSoto, where he is suspected of killing two people. Two boys, aged 11 and 13, survived that attack, DeSoto said.

Police did not immediately release the identities of those killed and wounded in the attacks, and the conditions of the survivors were not known Thursday.

A neighbor in DeSoto, Tommy Johnson, said he heard a loud boom Wednesday night coming from the direction of the home where the victims were later found.

"We thought it was coming from upstairs, because the kids are always upstairs making noise," Johnson said. "I went up and asked, 'Did y'all hear anything?' and one of my daughters said it came from outside. So I peeped out the front and that's when I saw a bunch of officers walking down the sidewalk and about 10 houses up."

Franks said she could not confirm that a grenade or other explosive device had been used in the DeSoto attack, pending the results of an ATF and Dallas bomb squad investigation.

Neighbors wearing nightclothes came out of their homes before dawn Thursday to watch as police investigated the DeSoto crime scene.

Fed uncertainty drives Wall Street to third straight drop

By Chuck Mikolajczak

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks lost ground for a third consecutive session on Wednesday on growing uncertainty over when the Federal Reserve may start to wind down its stimulus, which has been a driving force behind the rally in equities this year.

Even after the benchmark S&P 500 index suffered its biggest decline since June 24 on Tuesday, the market was unable to bounce back following comments from a pair of Fed officials that gave little clarity to how soon the central bank might reduce its bond-buying program.

The S&P 500 broke below 1,694.06, its 14-day moving average, which had served as a support level. The broad market index is down 1.1 percent for the week, on track for the worst weekly performance since a drop of 2.1 percent during the week of June 21 after the Fed's last policy meeting.

However, the index is still up 18.6 percent this year after closing at a record high on Friday.

"People were concerned about the extent of the rally in the short term, and some people are talking about equities being too expensive relative to the underlying fundamentals," said Stephen Massocca, managing director at Wedbush Equity Management LLC in San Francisco.

"And of course, the big story, the next big piece of news, one would think, is the taper tantrum."

Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President Sandra Pianalto said on Wednesday that the central bank would be prepared to scale back asset purchases if the labor market remains on the stronger path followed since last fall.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.dji> fell 48.07 points or 0.31 percent, to end at 15,470.67. The S&P 500 <.spx> declined 6.46 points or 0.38 percent, to 1,690.91. The Nasdaq Composite <.ixic> dropped 11.761 points or 0.32 percent, to 3,654.009.

Volume was once again light, with about 5.49 billion shares traded on the New York Stock Exchange, the NYSE MKT and Nasdaq, far below the daily average of 6.35 billion. Volume on Monday was the lowest of the year for a full trading session.

Walt Disney Co was the Dow's worst performer. The stock fell 1.7 percent to $65.91 a day after the company projected a massive loss on its film "The Lone Ranger," though adjusted earnings slightly beat expectations.

First Solar Inc shares plunged 13.4 percent to $40.47 a day after the solar panel manufacturer reported results that missed expectations and cut its full-year outlook.

Ralph Lauren Corp shares fell 8.6 percent to $173.13 after the fashion retailer reported a lower profit and disappointing sales at its own stores.

The two stocks were the S&P 500's worst performers.

Equity markets have been closely tied to central bank policy, with many investors concerned that economic growth isn't robust enough to boost stocks without the Fed's help. Last week, the July payroll report was much weaker than expected.

Charles Evans, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, said on Tuesday that the Fed would probably scale back its bond-buying program later this year, perhaps beginning as early as next month, depending on economic data.

That echoed comments made earlier on Tuesday by Dennis Lockhart, the president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, though he told Market News International that the Fed might continue its stimulus program if growth doesn't meet its targets.

Of the 434 companies in the S&P 500 that had reported earnings through Wednesday morning, Thomson Reuters data showed that 66.8 percent topped analysts' expectations, in line with the 67 percent beat rate over the past four quarters. On the revenue side, 54.1 percent have reported revenue above estimates, more than in the past four quarters, but below the 61 percent average since 2002.

Declining stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the NYSE by a ratio of about 7 to 3, while on the Nasdaq, about two stocks fell for every one that rose.

Will the Bank of Japan have to ease further?

Japan-Japanese-Umbrella-Asia-700x450.jpg

Signs that Japan?s economic recovery is already starting to slow could force the Bank of Japan to embark on further monetary easing, according to analysis from Capital Economics.

At its recent monetary policy meeting, the BoJ refrained from implementing any additional easing over its existing asset purchase programme and the expansion of the monetary base, reflecting the view that it believes they are already starting to work.

However, signs have recently been seen that suggest Japan?s recovery could be faltering. Markit/JMMA Japan Manufacturing Purchasing Managers? Index showed the pace of factory activity slowed in July - the first drop seen after six months of consecutive increases.

Other economic indicators, such as the Japanese cabinet office?s economy watcher survey, which posted a decline in July, have suggested that the country?s recovery is slowing.

Japan unveiled aggressive easing earlier in 2013, including a doubling of the monetary base over two years through the aggressive purchase of long-term bonds, in a bid to spark inflation and aid economic growth.

However, Capital Economics says: ?With spare capacity still ample and wage growth tepid, underlying price pressures are likely to remain subdued and even the planned doubling of the monetary base may not be enough to raise inflation to 2 per cent on a sustainable basis.

?Further easing may still be required, even as the US Fed starts scaling back asset purchases.?

Recent data from EPFR Global shows investors pulled money from Japanese equity funds in the week ending?31 July over concerns that plans to hike sales taxes in the country could hold back growth. This brought Japanese funds??27-week inflow streak to a halt.
